Lunar Eclipse of 12 / 21 / 10

At this time as I write this, the moon is in the shadow of the earth.  Its appearance is obscured by the clouds that have been lingering this past week.  This lunar eclipse is on the cusp of the winter solstice, and is a powerful indicator for the intense times that people are going through.
The full moon eclipse is bringing to emphasis the cathartic energy of Pluto, who has been journeying in the early degrees of Capricorn. And it is also triggering a square aspect to Uranus and Jupiter, which are completing their visit in the sign of Pisces.
This is bringing into focus intense issues with security and the uncertainty of what this time of change may bring into our realities.  Pluto clings to security, and its shadow influence can be seen in the manipulations of the powers that be.
Uranus is a revolutionary influence.  With political and financial institutions moving in a direction to give more to the wealthy, while tightening its belt and putting more hardship on the middle classes, there is going to be greater conflict in belief systems regarding the repercussions of this time of economic crisis.
With the power of this astrological pattern, we are also going to see more intensity in the extremes of the weather, and the potential for earthquake upheaval, and natural disturbances!
The Moon is symbolic of our security patterns and overall comfort in our day to day living realities.  Unresolved issues can burst forth bringing up psychological dynamics that need practical solutions in order to clear the air and put things in order.  For some, this can show a time of needing change in their living situations, and issues related to home and family.
With Uranus, this can bring up extremes in behavior and unexpected turns in events that can really shake up your reality if you let it get away with you.
For those people who are holding a clear space, it’s a time of deepening your inner connection as you shift your focus from your ego to your soul.  With a positive and pragmatic approach, opportunities for manifesting good relations and economic well-being are a reality for those riding a wave of positive intent into the New Year.
At this time Mercury is in retrograde motion, moving direct at the end of the year.  Mercury retrograde asks us to review important concerns to get everything in good working order.  Old issues may come up to be rehashed.  It’s not a time to rush into things, but take your time to understand the deeper implications of circumstances going on around you, especially related to the emotional realities of those around you.  Mercury and its influence in Capricorn suggests a good time to reorganize your mental reality so that you can efficiently take care of business and have an ordered sense of reality for your new year’s resolutions.  Put the focus on what you are thankful for so that the seeds of your positive intent may take root into the New Year.

Eclipse review -12/2010 and 1/2011

So it’s been over a month and I wanted to go over some of what I wrote about the lunar eclipse on 12/21/10.  Lately people have also been asking me about a recent announcement that our astrological signs are out of alignment with the constellations of stars, and therefore invalidating western astrology as we practice it.   And also the claim that a 13th constellation named Ophiuchus should be included in the zodiac of 12 signs.

Astronomers are always making this argument of constellations versus signs to invalidate astrology.  The main thing to know is that our western zodiac is not based on the star constellations.  Rather it is based on the orbit of the earth around the sun, and of the 4 seasons of the year starting with the spring equinox and the sign Aries.  Each sign is 1/12th of the year or a little over 30 days duration. The signs influence corresponds to the seasons of the northern hemisphere.
In other words, the time of Halloween and of the fall season when the natural world begins its time of death corresponds with the sign of Scorpio.  Halloween is symbolic of the veil of death opening to allow us to see the spirits of deceased relatives and discarnate spirits of all types.  So Scorpio is the sign of death, transformation and rebirth.  Its planetary rulers are Mars, the god of war, and Pluto, the lord of death and the underworld.

So that brings us back to the lunar eclipse on 12/21.  It’s the orbit of the Moon that is important here.  Orbits of celestial bodies are energetic lines of force and in this case with the Moon, it’s referred to as the lunar nodal axis.  When planets make hard aspects to the moon’s nodes, it can create a bit of havoc with the affairs of life on earth, natural disasters, etc.  Being that this eclipse was close to the winter solstice, it gave it more power in its expression, especially with a solar eclipse to follow two weeks later in the sign of Capricorn.

So for at least the next three months if not longer, the influence of these eclipses will be in strong expression in the affairs of the world.

The Lunar eclipse had the Sun in the 29th degree of Sagittarius and the Moon in the 29th degree of Gemini.  Sagittarius is the sign of our philosophy and political ideology, etc.  With hard aspects from Jupiter and Uranus squared to Pluto on the moon’s node and the Sun and Mars, we see a major expression of this with the shooting of Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords four days after the solar eclipse of January 4th.  This brought to awareness the extremes of our public debate about philosophical and political conflicts of ideology that were building up to this time period, including some of the drama around the potential revelations of Wiki leaks.

At the time of this lunar eclipse with the before mentioned hard aspects to it, I wrote that this was an indication for extreme weather and earthquakes.  Jupiter and Uranus were in the signs of Pisces, which is a water sign, and with this we see extreme flooding taking place in many areas around the world.  We also saw several earthquakes shortly after the eclipse including a 7.4 Japan, 6.7 in Iran and 6.2 in Indonesia.

Now with the solar eclipse in the sign Capricorn and the placement of Pluto there since 2008, upheaval in the social power structure of governments, financial institutions and expressions of social authority which has been in effect with financial crisis and governmental restructuring the past few years, is again a theme of major concern.

Solar eclipses are symbolized by the Sun being blacked out by the Moon.  The Sun can represent the King, heads of state and a sense of national identity.  So with the Sun being eclipsed in the sign of Capricorn, we look to see what leaders or social structures that may possibly come tumbling down.
Interestingly enough, when I set up the solar eclipse chart, and then mapped it onto a map of the world, we find a Pluto line going north / south right through Cairo, Egypt.  And President Mubarek is now in the middle of a collapse of his government.   So the difficulty happening in Egypt may have greater repercussions in the Middle East.  I think it is an important time to offer prayers for a positive outcome for the upheaval going on in that part of the world, as well as prayful intent for difficulties people are enduring all over the globe.

Well this is enough for now, if anyone has any questions or comments regarding what I have written, I will respond when I get some time.
